Embarkation Port - Piraeus

It's simple to get from the airport to the port; grab the subway, which takes around an hour into the city. Alternatively you can take a taxi or Uber, but it will cost you more than 4 times the price. If you're looking for somewhere to stay pre-cruise we would recommend the Athens Marriott.

Must do's

Things we did and we think you should too...

Act like an Emperor!

You cant visit Athens without visiting the Acropolis and Olympic arenas! We would recommend going early, taking it at our own pace and not paying for a tour guide. Soak up the atmosphere and travel back in time yourself.

Beach Club

Bolivar beach bar is the closest beach club to the city of Athens. Pull up a sun lounger, relax under the palm parasols and enjoy some local seafood and beer! Bolivar beach bar is easily reachable on tram line no. 7 - jump off at Kalamaki Station.

Chop Chop!

We stumbled upon the most amazing taverna where yo can eat like a local. We had a simple plate of flame grilled Lamb chops with freshly squeezed lime juice - it was amazing! The restaurant is called 'Παϊδάκια Ηλία', you won't find it on the internet; it's located right next to the Hold Church of Saint Athanasius. The closest metro stop is Thissio Station.

Top Tips

Tips to help you have a great time on shore.

Uber?

Yes! However, Public transport is also very easy to use and there's a great subway system; it's perfectly safe, but like any city keep an eye on your belongings. We used public transport for every trip.

Currency?

Euro's - you'll find ATMs and banks all over the city. Most places also accept Apple Pay

Dock Side?

The Port of Piraeus is quite industrial, mostly serving ferries to the Greek Islands. We would suggest jumping on the metro or grabbing a taxi to the city centre, However Mounichias Port is a 20-30 min walk away, full of restaurants and bars overlooking the small circular harbour.
