Welcome aboard to Cartagena, a mesmerizing gem on Colombia's coast that promises an unforgettable journey for every cruiser. As you step off the ship and immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of this historic city, be sure not to miss the charming mini zoo nestled conveniently in the port area, offering a delightful encounter with local fauna before your exploration begins. But it's when you venture into the enchanting labyrinth of the old town that Cartagena truly comes alive, with its cobblestone streets, colonial architecture, and vibrant plazas transporting you back in time. And as the ship sets sail, prepare to be captivated by the breathtaking sail away, where Cartagena's iconic skyline and the timeless beauty of the old town create a scene straight out of a postcard. It's no surprise that Cartagena holds a special place in Tom's heart

Must do's

Things we did and we think you should too...

 Caffeinate

Colombia is famous for its coffee - grab a traditional espresso with a cube of chocolate. We recommend La Manchuria, Particularly the store on the corner of Calle De La Estrella and Calle Del Cuartel.

Eat like a Colombian

Feel like you're stepping into an old Colombian movie set. This hidden gem transported us back in time where we sampled local dishes - its not to be missed! Check out Casa Cruxada

Wander the streets

Take in the old town, take in the quaint cable stone streets, colonial architecture and blooming balconies. Make sure you pop your head into one of the internal courtyards full of flowers and palms.

Top Tips

Tips to help you have a great time on shore.

Uber?

No - but you can easily hail a cab from the port. Remember to agree a price before jumping in! Most Taxi's are cash only.

Currency?

Columbian Peso - ATMs are available in port or you can pay with card. Some places may accept American Dollars

Dock Side?

Colombia has one of the best ports we've ever docked in; there's a mini zoo, a cafe, duty free and gift shop all contained within a visitors only area. Dont forget to take a picture with the massive yellow 'Colombia' sign!
