For once we didn't cruise, we took a mini-break to Inverness, but travelled in a different style; The Caledonian Sleeper. One of two sleeper trains in the UK, It connects London with Inverness, Fort William, Glasgow and Edinburgh

Walk 500 miles

Named after the iconic Scottish song get lost in the highlands beauty as you drive around North Coast 500. Be sure to venture off the beaten track into the height of the highlands to explore rolling landscapes and glistening lochs.

Tee off at one of Scotland famous golf courses such as Castle Stuart. the course features an art-deco club house and the 17th century castle after it's named. Set against the dramatic Highland landscapes

A wee dram

Visit one of Scotts favourite whiskey's; Glenmorangie. A granite distillery perched on the side of the North Sea conceals towering copper stills where they make the amber nectar. Take the tour, try a drop or have lunch in Glenmorangie House and experience the famous Scottish hospitality.

Dock Side?

There are two ports in Inverness depending on your ship size:

  • Smaller ships that can navigate the river Ness (e.g. Ponant/Hebridian Island Cruises) can dock in the heart of Inverness, where everything is on your door step.
  • Larger Ships (e.g. Royal Caribbean/Celebrity Cruises) dock nearby in Invergordon on the coast. Local taxi's and busses are avalible into Inverness and further afield. To discover the highlands or route 500 plan in advance.
