Singapore
Our culminating destination along our ‘Spice Route’ expedition, the tropical city-state of Singapore. I first encountered this vibrant city many years ago, whilst working as an onboard manager for a British airline. Singapore, a fusion of Asian and Western influences, captivates with its rich tapestry of cultures where every individual is respected, and every tradition celebrated. From savouring delectable dishes in the bustling Hawker Markets to wandering amidst the tropical wonders of Gardens by the Bay, from taking a daring plunge into the incredible infinity pool atop Marina Bay Sands to basking on the sun-kissed shores of Sentosa, or even embarking on thrilling adventures at Universal Studios—Singapore is a city tailor-made for the intrepid soul, offering an abundance of experiences that cater to every taste and inclination. Make sure you visit Raffles for afternoon tea, but book early, the spots get snapped up months in advance! Singapore is complete with a purpose-built cruise terminal, making it a great place to start or end a voyage.
Which Cruise?
Our final port on our Celebrity Millennium Spice Route cruise from Mumbai
Embarkation Port - Singapore
Singapore Cruise Terminal is very close to Marina Bay Sands and Gardens by the bay. The closest SMRT station is Marina South Pier, a short 10 min walk away by covered walk way. An express link is currently being built between Marina Bay and the airport, which is one stop away. Otherwise a taxi ride to the airport only takes 15 mins.
Must do's
Things we did and we think you should too...
(Sorry... there's lots to love, so the list is long!)
Be a foodie
Unleash your inner foodie and dive into the vibrant world of Singapore's Hawker Centres. The most iconic is Lau Pa Sat, a bustling food paradise located in the heart of the city. Here, amid the bustling atmosphere and fragrant aromas, you'll discover a tantalising array of dishes representing Singapore's diverse culinary heritage. From savory Hainanese chicken rice to spicy laksa and aromatic satay skewers, every bite is a flavorful journey through Singapore's rich food culture. Whether you're a seasoned foodie or a curious traveler, Lau Pa Sat and its Hawker Centres offer an unforgettable dining experience.
Raffles
Enter an icon, which has been fully restored to its former glory. Raffles is the epitome of Singaporean hospitality and known throughout the world. In days gone past it sat on the beach front as a beach hotel. If you plan on enjoying afternoon tea (We recommend it!) book early. If you pop by for a Singapore Sing at the Long Bar, dont let the line put you off - it moves quickly and its worth the wait!
Secret Garden
Get lost in the beauty of Gardens by the bay. Marvel at both the gardens (Mediterranean and Tropical) and the biomes that house them. Dont miss the light show in the outside gardens open to all in the evening
For the thrill of it
Dum Dum Dum, da, dum, dum dum, boom boom! Welcome to Universal Studios Singapore! Get lost in six worlds from the far far away land of Shrek, Jurassic Park or Ancient Egypt and unleash the curse of the Mummy. 18 Rides and attractions, plus even more shows and character meets will keep you busy!
An Island Like No Other...
Hop over to Sentosa via Taxi or SMTR and Monorail. Get lost in adventures such as: Universal Studios (above), Resorts World, White sandy beaches (and clubs), adventure cove water park or grab a day pass for one of the 5 star hotels. Sentosa is also a great place to stay pre or post cruise; we'd recommend the Sofitel.
Shine bright like a diamond
Heading in or heading out; make sure you stop and marvel at the 'Jewel'. Not all airports are created equal!Explore a breathtaking 40-meter waterfall surrounded by lush rainforest greenery. Or indulge in some retail therapy, bounce on the canopy trampolines, the options are endless!
Take in the view, dont pay the price!
Skip the queues and the price of the viewing platform at Marina Bay Sands. All you have to do is buy a cocktail, and who doesn't like a cocktail? Nestled alongside the infinity pool, sip on your champagne and take in the view at Cé La Vi.

Singapore Dollar - you'll find ATMs and banks all over the city. Most places also accept Apple Pay, including the metro.
